1001 has officially launched on Samsung Smart TVs powered by Tizen OS. This marks a significant technical milestone for the leading Iraqi streaming platform, broadening its reach to connect directly with living room displays.

The launch is built around a simple shift in viewing habits: for many households, the TV is once again the centre of entertainment. But bringing a streaming service to that screen is not simply a matter of making an app available. It calls for a product experience designed around a remote control, dependable playback and technology that performs consistently across different devices.

For 1001, the Tizen launch reflects the work of its Iraqi engineering and product teams, who are building a platform intended to serve audiences in Iraq and across the diaspora.

“Launching on Tizen OS is another important step in the evolution of our platform,” said Bilal Ghazi, Vice-President of Engineering at 1001. “Our engineering team has been focused on building a streaming experience that is fast, reliable, and ready to scale across every major screen. Every enhancement we make brings us closer to our vision of delivering a world-class entertainment platform built from Iraq for audiences everywhere.”

Tizen is Samsung’s smart TV operating system and is used on its television range worldwide. Its scale offers 1001 an opportunity to reach audiences through the device they increasingly use as the main hub for streaming at home.

Reflecting 1001’s dedication to continually enhancing its direct-to-consumer service, the delivery platform holds equal importance to the content itself. A presence on Samsung Smart TVs allows 1001 to build a more direct relationship with viewers, while giving them another way to discover and watch entertainment through the company’s own service.

Hani Moosa, Head of Visual Display at Samsung Electronics Levant, said the arrival of 1001 also reflects the growing importance of locally relevant content within the Smart TV market.

“Today’s viewers expect their TVs to be at the center of their entertainment experience,” Moosa said. “The arrival of 1001 on Tizen reflects how the Smart TV ecosystem is evolving to bring more locally relevant and culturally resonant content into the home. We are proud to support that evolution by giving Samsung users across Iraq and the diaspora another way to connect with the entertainment they value.”

The launch serves as a powerful demonstration of innovation within Iraq’s tech sector—a locally engineered product seamlessly integrated into a global platform and tailored to audience needs. As 1001 continues to evolve, its core commitment remains driving continuous innovation in technology and user experience, ensuring viewers are consistently brought closer to the entertainment they value.

The 1001 app is now available on compatible Samsung Smart TVs through the Tizen app store.
